Jeremy started his career in hotel sales and marketing, positioning and branding many of Hawaii’s leading resort hotels. After joining Hualalai in 2000, Jeremy put his marketing and real estate skills to work forming Hualalai Villas and Homes for then owner, Kajima Corporation. Hualalai Villas and Homes provides high quality property management services for Hualalai homeowners, including housekeeping, maintenance, marketing and vacation rental sales.
Jeremy became a licensed Hawaii Real Estate Broker in 2007 and started Private Homes Hawaii in 2011. He partnered with long- time Big Island Broker Chris Krueger in 2013 and together, they have grown the company to represent more than 100 properties on the two islands. He is a privileged member of the Honolulu Board of Realtors and a volunteer coordinator with the Blood Bank of Hawaii. Jeremy attended Punahou School on Oahu and graduated from the University of Colorado with a BA degree in Biology. He and his wife Sissy, an agent with Coldwell Banker Realty, reside in Kailua and enjoying spending time traveling and visiting their four adult children.
Chris Krueger founded Hoku Lele Properties, LLC in 2005 to provide residential management services to the high-end luxury real estate market along the Kohala Coast. Chris is a long time hospitality professional having served in various executive management roles with Mauna Kea Resort, The Hyatt Regency Waikoloa and The Ritz-Carlton, Mauna Lani (now the Fairmont Mauna Lani). After years in the human resources profession, Chris began managing private homes at the Mauna Kea Resort serving as Director of Residential Services. Chris led a property management team that included housekeeping, landscape maintenance, pool maintenance, property managers, marketing, reservations and catering. She now oversees Private Homes Hawaii’s estate management program along the Kohala Coast at Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea and Hualalai Resort.
Chris is a graduate of California State University at Fullerton where she earned her degree in Business Administration. She earned her Hawaii Real Estate Broker’s License in 2007 and is a member of the Hawaii Association of Realtors. Chris serves on the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity, West Hawaii, a locally run non-profit organization that works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. She resides in Kona with her husband, Dennis.
Steven Jones relocated to Hawaii from the state of Texas where he was a highly recognized Estate Manager for twelve years. Steven trained at the Starkey International Institute for Household Management in Denver, Colorado where he was certified as a household manager.
Steven’s path to Estate Management began in college where he majored in Chef Technology and Hotel & Restaurant Management. After working in the culinary field, Steven spent ten years as a Catering Sales Manager for the Westin, Marriott and Regal Hotels in Cincinnati, Ohio. Then, he put his entrepreneurial skills into practice by launching his own residential and commercial cleaning business.
Steven’s career spans thirty-five years in the hospitality and luxury services market. His passion for private services is exhibited in his tireless work ethic. He is detailed, organized and possesses a talent for caring for fine furnishings and art. His ability to perform any task large or small is surpassed only by his dedication and loyalty to those he serves.
Steven joined Private Homes Hawaii in 2012 and oversees the company’s estate management program on Oahu. He is a Hawaii state-licensed Realtor-Associate specializing in property management and the vacation rental market. He is an honored member of the Honolulu Board of Realtors. While residing on Oahu, Steven enjoys traveling, walking, hiking, boating, spending time at the beach, nature and spectacular sunsets. In his spare time, he also likes to paint and spend time with his partner Carlos, and their fur baby Olive.
Corinne Souza considers herself truly blessed to have grown up in the charming beach town of Kailua on Oahu’s windward coast. She comes from a family with over fifty years of real estate development, property management and sales experience. Corinne started her career in the hospitality industry with Mid Pacific Airlines as a flight attendant and in customer services with Delta Airlines. She has been married for thirty-five years to her husband, Guy. Together, they have raised three children who her greatest joy and calling in life. The demands of her husband’s job afforded them the opportunity to travel and live in Guam, Australia and Virginia. Upon returning to the islands in 2002, Corrine served as the Women’s Pastor at Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay. Her gift of hospitality and love for serving people led her to pursue a career in real estate.
With her vast experience and knowledge of the Kailua community, Corinne specializes in the management of long-term rentals on Oahu’s Windward side. She became a proud member of the Honolulu Board of Realtors in 2012. She enjoys Zumba exercise and reading in her spare time.
Lisa Schultz began her career in Operations Management both in the private and non-profit sectors. She spent 13 years in the Financial Services Industry managing staff, office operations, compliance and IT systems. She decided to make a transition to the non-profit arena and for another 7 years gained a wealth of experience in contracts, grants, human resources and finance.
Lisa currently serves as a Property Manager in Private Home Hawaii’s long-term and short-term leasing division. She also assists with Office Operations to support the Private Homes Hawaii Oahu Branch and has done so for 9 years.
Lisa was born and raised on the Windward side. In addition to her work in real estate, Lisa is a fulltime wife and mother to a house full of men – 3 boys and her husband Jeff. Lisa feels the role that has prepared her the greatest for property management has been taking care of her very own household, as well as her desire to serve others. She enjoys making connections with her clients, taking care of their homes, finding tenants housing and getting things fixed! In her leisure time, Lisa spends time with her `Ohana, which includes 5 English Staffordshire Bull Terriers and 2 family horses. She also enjoys teaching Sunday School, entertaining, shopping and camping.
Kim Matheny was born and raised in Southern California and more recently lived with her family in Atlanta, Georgia before relocating to Honolulu in 2013. Since earning her Real Estate License in 2015, Kim has been our reservations and marketing assistant in the vacation rental division, providing our guests with a friendly and knowledgeable voice when they are searching for that perfect rental. Kim spent 15 years as a Customer Service Agent with American Airlines and also has extensive experience in the financial, hospitality and senior living industries. Her joy in life comes from serving others both in her career and at home. She has been married to her husband, Brad, for almost 18 years and is a full-time mom to their two wonderful children. Kim and her family travel as often as possible to various points around the globe. She has a passion for photographing the beautiful scenery here in Hawaii and abroad. In her spare time, she also enjoys hiking, serving in various church ministries and spending time with family and friends.
Barbea was born and raised in Southern Oregon, and then relocated to Oahu in 2008 to attend the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she earned her Bachelors of Education degree. With a background in teaching she recently earned her real estate sales license. Barbea provides support to our Oahu operation as a reservation agent. Barbea prides herself in knowing some great eateries and hidden gems of Oahu. She enjoys helping others and supporting her husband and young child in their life journeys. In her free time, she loves relaxing on the beach with her family, visiting her favorite spots on the island, trying new restaurants, and most of all, cheering on her husband and the University of Hawaii Men’s Basketball team!
Vickie was born and raised in Hawaii. She married her high school sweetheart and together they have 4 sons and 2 grandchildren. She spent 8+ years away from the islands with her husband while he proudly served with the USAF in CA and then in Germany. Her real estate background comes from working for the largest locally owned real estate company on the Big Island for 15 years and assisting and volunteering with the local board of realtors. She currently provides support to our Oahu and Big Island team in reservations for vacation rentals.
She loves to spend time with her family here in Hawai’i as well as travel to visit those that live afar. Walking, hiking, stand up paddle boarding and watching UH sports are high on the list of things she likes to do. She is blessed to live back home in the Aloha Spirit state . . . Hawai’i no ka oi!
Matt Beasley was born and raised in North Carolina, and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2010 to attend school as a missionary at the University of the Nations. During this time, Matt studied the Bible and led outreach teams to South Africa, Mozambique, and Europe. In 2013, he and his wife Kelby moved to Greenville, SC where Matt had once attended college and founded a non-profit organization. As an entrepreneur dodging traditional “9 to 5” employment, he started a residential cleaning business, introducing him to the world of hospitality and business. Following the birth of their first child in 2015, Matt and Kelby sold their business and returned to Kelby’s hometown of Kailua, Hawaii. Matt recently earned his real estate license, joined Private Homes Hawaii and is specializing in long-term leasing and vacation rental management throughout the island. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his family, staying in shape at CrossFit, reading, and disciple-making.
Kayo Akatsuka was born and raised in Japan and move to Northern California in 1993 as a high school exchange student, then to Oahu in 1995 to attend school at the University of Hawaii Manoa majoring in Travel Industry Management. After graduating, she worked as a Japanese Guest Service Manager at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel.
Kayo earned her real estate license in 2005 and started her sales and marketing career in the timeshare industry with Westin, Marriott and Hilton where she spent 15 years. She also worked as a realtor with Coldwell Banker Realty.
Kayo serves as a Property Manager in Private Homes Hawaii’s long-term and short-term leasing division. She has strong administrative skills, a deep knowledge of contracts and excellent communication skills. She also carries the value of hard work, integrity, strong negotiation skill and outstanding client service into everything she does. She is also fluent in Japanese.
Kayo is a lover of life, especially on Oahu. She enjoys yoga, running, hiking, beach, food & wine and world traveling.
Born and raised in Chicago, Loy Marie fell in love with the magic of this extraordinary place in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It was inevitable that this Big City Girl would become a Big Island Girl. Loy traded in the Windy City for cool island breezes after she began her real estate career in the Midwest selling new-build construction homes for one of the top 10 single family home builders in the United States, Beazer Homes. Soon after moving to The Big Island in 2006, she earned her Hawaii Real Estate license and gained her long-term and short-term Property Management experience with Clark Realty, the market-share leader and largest locally owned real estate company on the island. Her luxury real estate experience started in 2012 working at Hualalai Resort for Hualalai Villas and Homes, managing the operations of the Rental Program including Reservations and Guest Experience. In her role at Private Homes Hawaii, she works as a Sr. Administrative Manager for both Principals to support the Marketing, Reservations/Sales, Guest Experience and Property Management initiatives of the company. Her expertise and personable connections with clients make her an exceptional asset. In her spare time, you can find Loy behind the camera, exploring her passion for photography and setting up fun photoshoots with her daughter Samantha.
Alia Chochol was born in Honolulu and comes from a large Kailua family. As a child, Alia has lived in Brazil, Ecuador, and the Philippines before returning home to the islands and living on Kauai, Maui, Hawaii, and Molokai. Alia eventually returned to Oahu where she attended UH Manoa and became a licensed RN. Alia worked as an RN for several years before starting her own business, Hawaii Helping Hands Concierge, a vacation rental concierge. After many successful years running her own business, Alia developed a love for real estate, especially short and long-term property management. In 2021, Alia transitioned to a full-time licensed real estate agent. She currently serves as a Property Manager for Private Homes Hawaii. Alia has been home in Kailua since 2007 and in addition to her successful career, she is a full-time mom to three children, twin girls and a boy. She also volunteers her time as her daughters’ soccer coach. Alia enjoys running, hiking, cooking and spending time with her family.
Gena was born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest to a family of real estate entrepreneurs. Her passion for the hospitality industry started with food & beverage sales after attending the University of Oregon.
Relocating to Oahu in 2003, Gena took on the role of lead design and business manager for her husband’s construction company, while still managing their vacation rental home and long-term rental units in Oregon. Focusing on her passion for entrepreneurship and business, Gena became a proud member of the Honolulu Board of Realtors in in 2012 and worked with a small boutique real estate firm. She later connected with Private Homes Hawaii, providing housekeeping services and eventually started her own cleaning company in 2018. Gena joined Private Homes Hawaii as a property manager in 2020, specializing in vacation rental management and long-term leasing.
Experienced in all aspects of ownership and management, Gena’s clients appreciate her eye for detail, reliability, responsiveness, drive, and integrity.
When she’s not working, Gena enjoys “shaking” in the Pure Barre studio, traveling, and watching spectacular sunsets. Mostly, she and her husband love to entertain friends and family on game days and holidays! She is always happy when her son is home, visiting from Seattle.
