5 of the Best Places to Watch the Sunset in Hawaii

1. Kaena Point

Kaena Point, located on the western shore of Oahu, offers a secluded shoreline for locals and visitors alike to watch the sunset over the ocean. It’s the perfect spot for those who want to enjoy a quiet evening by the water. If you can’t make it to Kaena Point for sunset, visit at dawn for some incredible dolphin viewing!

2. Kualoa Beach

Kualoa Regional Park offers a narrow stretch of shoreline known as Kualoa Beach. Here, you can stake out a spot in the sand and watch the sun sink over the ocean.

3. Kai Mini Beach Park

Koko Kai Mini Beach Park is a small recreation area between homes in a residential neighborhood. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, but not suited for children or those with limited mobility, as the terrain is rocky. However, if you’re up for a challenge, venture through the park to the “China Walls,” a rock facing overlooking the ocean. The sunsets here are unmatched!

4. Ala Moana Beach Park

If you’re searching for a convenient place to watch the sunset, look no further than Ala Moana Beach Park. This popular recreation area on the southern shore of Oahu offers a half-mile strip of white sand beach. This is the perfect spot for families to watch the sunset, as there’s an expansive grassy area behind the beach for the kids to run and play!

5. Puʻu ʻUalakaʻa State Wayside

Puʻu ʻUalakaʻa State Wayside is a great option for sunset viewing near downtown Honolulu. This hidden gem offers panoramic views of the southern tip of Oahu from Diamond Head to Pearl Harbor. There’s no better place to watch the sunset close to the city! Afterward, enjoy dinner at one of our favorite restaurants on Oahu.
